I recently celebrated my 50th birthday, and it’s been a time for reflection. Looking back to my last milestone 10 years ago, I remember when my kids were just 6 and 8. Now, with them being 16 and 18, on the verge of finishing school and heading to university, life is changing once again.
As they become more independent, I find myself in a different place. I no longer need to focus on childcare, so having a solid support network of friends and family is more important than ever but for me! It’s great to have people to talk to and share life’s ups and downs, isn’t it?
Turning 50 isn’t just about looking back but also about looking forward. It’s not the halfway point like most people think, but the start of a new chapter. The next decade will bring its own changes, including adjusting to an empty nest and focusing on what I want to achieve personally and professionally with Jas.
This also got me thinking about how everyone can apply these reflections to your own lives and businesses. Just like in personal milestones, business milestones offer us a chance to pause, reflect, and plan for the future. Whether you’re celebrating a business anniversary or simply evaluating your progress, it’s crucial to appreciate what you’ve achieved and think about how you want to evolve. Building a strong support network, having an open mind and not taking anything for granted can make a significant difference in both personal and professional growth.
I’ve celebrated this milestone with some lovely moments – a relaxing spa day with the girls, a champagne breakfast with friends and loved ones, and there’s more to come!
As I embrace this new phase, I’m also realising about how life is short, and that it’s crucial to care less about what others think and focus more on what truly matters to me. Here’s to the future – filled with opportunities for personal growth and new adventures with Jas, (and the girls) and to celebrating the wonderful people I have who make my life special.
