With Valentine’s Day just a few days ago love and romance are still in the air—or at least, in the shop windows and leftover chocolates. It’s the time of year when we’re reminded of fairy tales, grand gestures, and perfect endings. But if life has taught me anything, it’s that things don’t always go the way we expect. And sometimes, we end up romanticising the wrong things while taking the truly important ones for granted.

In business, it’s easy to do the same. We chase the dream of one big break, the perfect client, the game-changing deal—convincing ourselves that success will come wrapped in a beautiful bow, just like in the stories. But real success isn’t about waiting for the fairy-tale moment.
