Your business team needs proper motivation so they can work towards your business and personal goals

The only way to get productive and achieve success in business is to promote a culture of teamwork. No one person has brought his company to success on his own, despite all the success stories we hear. When you gather the energy, knowledge, and skills of a motivated group of people, then you and your team can attain anything you set your eyes on.

Not motivating your team the right away can lead to a total waste of talent that could have otherwise helped you get to the top. Different people have different needs on how they reach a certain level of motivation, and a single form of incentive would not necessarily apply to all. Hence, it’s crucial to really know what makes them tick.

Determine each team member’s worth and pay it

When you know your employees’ salaries, be sure that their pay is consistent with what other companies in your market industry are paying. Studies have shown that employees would usually leave their current job for just a 5 percent increase in pay. The worst thing that could happen is you losing exceptional talent just because you’re underpaying them.

Try to make their workplace extraordinary

Everyone wants to work in an office atmosphere that is fresh and stimulating. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to make an office a more pleasant place to be.  Just provide them with all the necessary space and tools for them to become productive, and add a little sprinkle of fun.

Provide realistic opportunities for career growth

The members of your team will be more valuable to your organisation, when they have prospects to learn new skills and be a better version of themselves. Provide your team with the training they need to advance in their careers and to become educated about the latest technologies and industry news.

Encourage collaboration within the team

Studies also show that a lot of employees don’t feel that their input is appreciated. You need to encourage the members of your team to fully participate by inviting their input and suggestions on how to do things better. Ask questions during meetings, listen to their answers, and, whenever applicable, implement their solutions and give them due credit.

Establish clear and measurable goals — individually and collectively

Imagine if your employees feel they’ve wasted time at work because they weren’t aware of what work was a priority, and what wasn’t. As a leader, it’s your responsibility to work with the members of your team to set clear goals. It gives them a sense of accountability and fulfillment if they know exactly what they’re working hard for. Never keep them in the dark when there’s really no valid reason to.

Avoid micromanaging and master the art of delegation

No one likes a boss who is constantly looking over shoulders and second-guessing every decision. Most employees would rather take on unpleasant task than sit next to a micromanaging boss. Don’t let them feel that they’re not trusted by tinkering on every job that could have been assigned to someone. Make them feel valued by entrusting task to them and letting them be accountable.

Get rid of useless meetings

Meetings can be an incredible waste of time if there’s really no urgent reason to have them. Create an agenda for your meetings and distribute it in advance. Invite only the people who really need to attend, start the meeting on time, and then end it as quickly as you possibly can. If it’s something that can be communicated through email, ditch the meeting.
